Woman Killed in Ludington House Fire

LUDINGTON, MI – At 2:04 AM on October 11th, 2017, deputies from the Mason County Sheriff’s Office and troopers with MSP responded to a structure fire in the 4600 block of South Pere Marquette Hwy in Mason County’s Summit Township.

The caller, the male home owner, had reported his house of fire and that he was unable to get his wife out. The 2 deputies and trooper attempted entry into the home but were pushed back due to smoke and heat.

Riverton Township Fire, Pere Marquette Township Fire, Ludington Fire along with LIFE EMS all responded to the scene. A female was removed from the home by fire personnel; however she had passed away in the fire. At this time she is only being identified as a female.

The Michigan State Police Fire Marshall’s Office and detectives from the Mason County Sheriff’s Office remain on the scene as of 8:30 AM and the investigation in to the fire continues.
