One Suspect in Custody for Fatal Shooting at O’Reilly Auto Parts Store

DETROIT, MI –  Detroit Police have taken at least one suspect into custody for the fatal shooting of the murder of 69-year-old James Haller Jr. on Wednesday November 1st, 2017 at an O’Reilly Auto Parts Store on the city’s northwest side.

The robbery and murder happened approximately 5:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the O’Reilly Auto Parts store located at 16830 Schaefer Highway at West Six Mile Road in Detroit.

The victim, James Haller, Jr., was a manager at the parts store. He had served his country proudly in the Vietnam war. He was also a retired General Motors employee and a father of 10 children.

DPD has confirmed that a 23-year -old woman, believed to be the shooter, has been taken into custody.

Police are asking the public to keep watch for a maroon SUV with a broken rear passenger window, possibly covered with plastic and has a cracked windshield. They are also looking for a 2nd female suspect and the driver of the get away vehicle.

At this time, Detroit Police are still in the early phases of their investigation and will issue a statement when further information becomes available.
