HOMER TOWNSHIP, MI – The Midland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single vehicle traffic crash that claimed the life of a 38-year-old Midland man.
The incident took place on East Olson Road just east of Rustic Drive in Homer Township, at approximately 8:40 pm, on November 7th, 2017.
The initial investigation indicates that the driver, Robert Altman, 38-years-old, from Midland, was driving his blue 2007 Dodge Caliber eastbound on East Olson Road. The vehicle went off the road to the left, struck a mailbox and then a tree.
Mr. Altman was transported by EMS to Mid Michigan Medical Center in Midland for treatment but was later died due to his injuries.
Mr. Altman was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and his vehicle’s side impact airbags had deployed.
The Sheriff’s Office is waiting for toxicology reports for a final determination. This report will be forwarded to the Midland County Prosecutor’s Office for review once it has been completed.
The Midland County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Mid Michigan EMS and Homer Township Fire Rescue.
