VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, MI – MSP responded a fatal accident scene involving multiple vehicles on Northbound I-275 at Ecorse Road that closed the northbound side of the freeway for several hours.

At 12:47 pm, MSP Troopers responded to a fatal crash on N/B I-275 near Ecorse in Van Buren Twp. Preliminary information indicates this is a rear end crash involving three vehicles.

One driver, a 30 year old father and husband from Sterling Heights, suffered fatal injuries. A second driver is in critical condition at U of M Hospital.

The cause of the crash is being thoroughly investigated by troopers and an MSP Accident Reconstructionist.

N/B I-275 will remain closed through rush hour and re-open once the investigation is completed. The ramp to N/B I-275 from I-94 is closed so an alternate route is required.

This is a tragic incident that is amplified with the holiday season. MSP is asking all motorists to pay attention while driving and eliminate distractions until you reach your destination safely.
