Two Flint Men Charged in Sanilac County Home Invasion/Double Homicide

SANDUSKY, MI – Two Flint men are facing multiple charges stemming from the Home Invasion – Double Murder in Sanilac County that occurred on November 19th, 2017 near Ubly, MI.

On November 21st, both suspects, Stephen Shimmel, 48-years-old, of Flint and Preston Jack, 30-years-old, also of Flint, were arraigned at the 73rd District Court on the following charges and are being held at the Sanilac County Jail without bond.

Stephen Shimmel;

  • (2) Felony counts of Assault with Intent to Murder,
  • Conspiracy to Commit Assault with Intent to Murder
  • Robbery- Armed – Serious Injury
  • (2) Assault with Intent to Rob While Armed
  • Conspiracy to Commit Robbery- Armed
  • Home Invasion- 1st Degree
  • Weapons- Firearms- Possession by Felon
  • Stolen Property- Receiving and Concealing-Motor Vehicle
  • Weapons- Felony Firearm

Preston Jack;

  • (2) Felony counts of Assault with Intent to Murder,
  • Conspiracy to Commit Assault with Intent to Murder
  • Robbery- Armed – Serious Injury
  • (2) Assault with Intent to Rob While Armed
  • Conspiracy to Commit Robbery- Armed
  • Home Invasion- 1st Degree
  • Weapons- Firearms- Possession by Felon
  • Stolen Property- Receiving and Concealing-Motor Vehicle
  • Weapons- Felony Firearm

The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office continues their investigation into the Home Invasion/Armed Robbery and the deaths of Quantize Bruce, 20-years-old and Keith Saunders, 26-years-old, both of Flint, which occurred on Sunday November 19th, 2017 on Holbrook Road in Greenleaf Township.

It is believed that the motive for these crimes are robbery of a medical marijuana grow operation.
