DETROIT, MI – The Detroit Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating 21-year old suspect Jaffar Moushtak Tawfik, wanted in connection with a non-fatal shooting that occurred on the city’s west side.
On today’s date at approximately 12:05 p.m., a 27-year old male victim and witness were handing out flyers door to door in the area of the 6700 block of Montrose. While at a residence, a 54 year old male suspect came out of the location and began arguing with the victim. During the argument, the 21-year old male suspect exited the location, armed with a handgun and fired a shot at the victim; none took effect.
Both witness and victim then left. Upon leaving, the suspects followed the victim and witness in a white van, resulting in one of the suspects, firing a shot at the victim and striking him in the body. The victim ran to the area Mansfield and Paul where he collapsed and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He is listed in critical condition.
The 54-year old male suspect was located and taken into custody on Greenfield near Ford. The white van was also recovered.

The suspect is described as an Arabic Male, 5’10”, 150 lbs., brown eyes, dark brown hair with a pony tail to the back. He was last seen driving northbound on Montrose in a White Cadillac with black rims, he is considered armed and dangerous.
