SCOTTVILLE, MI – At 7:34 AM on Friday December 1st, 2017, Mason County Sheriff’s Deputies and troopers from the MSP Hart Post were dispatched to a multi-vehicle crash on US10 west of the City of Scottville.
The crash resulted when a 1995 full size Chevy van, traveling eastbound on US10, crossed the center-line, traveled through the center turn lane, and struck a 2011 Kia head-on. The van then collided with a second westbound vehicle, a 2006 Dodge minivan.
The driver of the KIA was killed instantly and is only being identified at this time as a 35 year-old man from Scottville.
His son, 1 ½ years old, was properly secured in a child safety seat in the back passenger side, received minor cuts. He was transported by LIFE EMS to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital.
The driver of the 1995 Chevy van is a 22-year-old Mason County man. He was critically injured and flown by Aero Med to Munson Hospital in Traverse City. His passenger, a 22-year-old woman, was also injured and taken to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital by LIFE EMS for non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the 2006 Dodge minivan was also injured and he is being identified as a 23-year-old man from Custer.
No names will be released at this time.
MSP and MCSO will be conducting the investigation into the crash and were assisted at the scene by members of the Ludington Police and Scottville Police Departments along with Scottville Fire, Pere Marquette Fire, Custer Township Jaws and Ludington Fire and Rescue Jaws.
