Alcohol believed to be factor after Woman Rolls Vehicle in Sanilac County

SANILAC TOWNSHIP, MI – On Wednesday December 6th, 2017, at approximately 12:20 A.M., Sanilac Central Dispatch received a call from a 41-year-old resident of Port Sanilac stating that she went in the ditch on Greening Road between E. Sanilac Road and Hyde Road in Sanilac Township.

Sanilac County Deputies responded to the area in addition to the Port Sanilac Fire Department and Sanilac EMS and began searching for her. After searching the area, Deputies were able to locate her and the Port Sanilac Fire Department was able to free her from her overturned vehicle.

According to Sgt. Armstrong, the investigation revealed that the subject was southbound on Greening Road and left the roadway on the east side of the road. The subject struck several small trees before her vehicle overturned on its passenger side. After being removed from the vehicle, the female was transported to McKenzie Hospital for treatment of her injuries by Sanilac EMS.

The airbags did deploy and a seat belt was not worn by the driver. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident and the name of the driver is being withheld pending charges which are being sought through the Sanilac County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office was also assisted by the Sandusky Police Department and the Michigan State Police.
