ROSEVILLE, MI – On Thursday December 7th, 2017, at approximately 3:04am, troopers from the Metro South Post and from the Second District Special Investigation Section responded to westbound I- 94 near Gratiot Ave. for a possible shooting on the freeway.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a man from Chesterfield was driving to work when an unknown vehicle pulled alongside and fired shots at his vehicle. The driver was struck in the leg and exited the freeway stopping at a gas station where he called Detroit Police.
The driver was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released. This incident occurred at approximately 2:40am and MSP was contacted by Detroit Police at 3:04am once the incident was confirmed to have happened on the freeway.
Troopers closed I-94 from approximately 6:30 am till 7:58am and did not locate any evidence. This investigation is continuing by the Metro South Post and the Special Investigation Section. Witnesses are asked to contact MSP at 734-287-5000.
