DETROIT, MI – The mother of the 3-year-old boy who is charged in connection with the fatal shooting of her three-year-old son was arraigned today, Thursday December 14th, 2017.
On Wednesday December 6th, 2017, at 7:20 p.m. medics were called to an apartment shared by Kinesha Boyd and her boyfriend, Demetrius Peals, to transport her son for treatment for a gunshot wound to the face.
Kyrei was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation by the Detroit Police Department developed Peals and Boyd as suspects in the fatal shooting of the child .
On Wednesday December 6th, 2017, it is alleged that Peals left a loaded firearm accessible to Kyrei while the child was in his care. The child found the gun and fatally shot himself.
Demetrius Peals was arraigned on his charges on a December 10th. Peals is facing a number of charges including involuntary manslaughter and second degree child abuse.

Kinesha Comeal Boyd was arraigned in 36th District Court at 10:30 this morning before Magistrate Bari Blake Wood. The probable cause conference is scheduled for December 27, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for January 3, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. Both hearings are before Judge Deborah Lewis Langston in 36th District Court. Boyd received a $25,000 personal bond.
