3 East side Armed Robberies may be Connected

DETROIT, MI – Detroit Police are very busy investigating three armed robberies that occurred within as very short period of time by those with very much the same description.

Three armed robberies occurred early Saturday on the city’s east side. All three took place within an hours time.

The first occurred at 12:20am. A 36-year-old man was approached by a black Jeep Wrangler when he got off a bus at Holcomb and Gratiot. Two black men wearing black hooded sweatshirts and masks exited the Jeep and started assaulting the victim. The victim told police that one of the men was armed with a handgun. Two other men stayed in the vehicle.

At 1:05 a.m., a 29-year-old man was robbed by three black men wearing dark clothing and black masks on Chapin Street near Cooper Street. The suspects took a handgun, cell phone and black jacket and then fled eastbound on Chapin in a dark green or black Jeep Liberty.

At 1:25 a.m., two men were in a parked dark-colored Jeep Liberty at Nottingham Road and Wade Street. They got out of the vehicle and robbed a 31-year-old at gunpoint. The got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspects are described by police as black men wearing black masks, hoodies and coats. One of them was armed with a handgun. One of the men is described as black with a medium build. He is about 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a black ski mask and was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun.

The other suspect is described as a black man with a medium complexion wearing a colorful jacket.

No victims were injured during any of the incidents.
