Southfield Freeway Traffic Enforcement to Continue

DETROIT, MI – Troopers assigned to the Second District Special Enforcement Section will continue to provide directed patrols on the Southfield Freeway due to the increased amount of driver complaints.

Troopers will be concentrating on aggressive driving, distracted driving, aggressive lane changing, speeding and tailgating. This enforcement will continue throughout the winter. There were 647 traffic crashes on the Southfield Freeway in 2016, including three fatal crashes and 137 injury crashes.

Wrong Way Driver Enforcement is also a focus of MSP. The Michigan State Police and MDOT are working to cut down on the amount of wrong way driver incidents in Metro Detroit.
