PONTIAC, MI – Two people have been arrested for a double murder that took place on Robinwood Avenue Saturday January 13th, 2018 at approximately 10:45pm.
Killed were 23-year-old Kayla Richardson and her 34 year-old boyfriend, Justin Flores, of Pontiac.
The shooting occurred during what is believed to have been a marijuana buy.
Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 800 block of Robinwood Avenue on reports of gunshots being fired inside of the residence.
Upon arrival, Deputies established a perimeter. Deputies entered the residence and located Kayla Richardson and Justin Flores. Both victims had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The scene was secured.
Paramedics from Star EMS attempted to render medical attention to the two victims. Paramedics were unable to revive either of them. Subsequently both Richardson and Flores were pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies searched the house for additional victims or potential witnesses. Deputies located a man who was upstairs during the shooting and two young children who were also inside of the home. No other individuals were injured during the incident.
Deputies learned from one of the witnesses who had just pulled up in the driveway that he had used his vehicle to hit one of the suspects as he fled the scene on foot from the residence. The suspect managed to escape and continue to flee. Witnesses were transported to the Pontiac Substation to speak with Detectives. A K-9 unit responded to the scene and conducted a search for the suspects.
A track was established, but was terminated once that it was determined that the suspects were picked up by a vehicle. The OCSO Forensic Science Laboratory responded to process the scene.
The shooting occurred as a result of a marijuana purchase that was set up by the suspects from Justin Flores that resulted in the shooting. Detectives were able to determine who those suspects were.
The suspects were arrested later that morning and lodged in the Oakland County Jail pending charges. The suspected semi-automatic handgun used was recovered. A 21-year-old and a 17-year-old, both from Pontiac are behind bars.
