Flags to be lowered in honor of former U.S. Rep. Joe Knollenberg

LANSING, MI – Gov. Rick Snyder has ordered U.S. and Michigan flags to be lowered to half-staff Friday, Feb. 9, on all state buildings and within the state Capitol complex in honor of former congressman Joe Knollenberg who died Tuesday, Feb. 6.

“Joe’s commitment to our nation, state and his constituents will never be forgotten,” Snyder said. “Sue and I send our most heartfelt condolences to Joe’s family, friends and community.”

Knollenberg served in the U.S. army prior to serving as a U.S Representative for eight terms. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed being involved in his community.

A service in his honor will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, at 2 p.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church in Birmingham.
