Detroit Man Charged in Winthrop Street Homicide [Updated]

DETROIT, MI – Rudolph Lawton Henderson, 43-years-old, of Detroit, has been charged in connection with the murder of Annetta Nelson, 57-years-old, also of Detroit.

UPDATE:  Charges Dropped against Man Arrested for Winthrop Street MurderRudolph Henderson

On Monday February 26th, 2018, at 4:25 p.m. Detroit police officers were on patrol in the area of Plymouth Rd and Winthrop Street when it is alleged that the suspect, Rudolph Henderson, flagged the officers down.

While with Rudolph Henderson, one of the officers observed the victim, Annetta Nelson, lying on the sidewalk unconscious and not breathing. Medics were dispatched to the location and when they arrived, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Investigation by police led to the arrest of Henderson. The facts and evidence in the case will be presented in court at the preliminary examination.


Henderson has been charged with First Degree Murder. Henderson was arraigned today at 4:00 p.m. in 36th District Court.
