Child Uninjured after being Struck by Vehicle in Big Rapids

BIG RAPIDS, MI – A 5-year-old girl was not injured this morning after she was accidentally struck by a vehicle just after 7:00 AM.Fatal Car pedestrian

On Wednesday March 14th, 2018, deputies from the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office investigated a vehicle/pedestrian personal injury accident.  The incident occurred on private property in the driveway to the Country Manor Estates located at 18300 Northland Dr in Green Twp.

A 35 year-old woman, from Big Rapids, stopped in the driveway to allow children to cross to get to a school bus waiting for them on Northland Drive.  She then began to move forward after all of the children had passed and it appeared to be clear.   A 5-year-old little girl then ran out from in front of a vehicle stopped on the side of the driveway and into the path of her vehicle.  The vehicle was travelling very slowly but collided with the child.  The child was knocked to the ground but did not sustain any visible injuries.  The child was transported by ambulance to the Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital for evaluation.

Deputies were assisted on scene by Big Rapids City Rescue and Mecosta County EMS.
