Huron County Man Arrested after Altercation involving Vehicle Repo

OWENDALE, MI – On Wednesday March 13th, 2018, at approximately 9:30PM, The Huron County Sheriff’s office was sent to a residence on Sebewaing Rd. in Grant Twp., where a Saginaw area vehicle repossession driver, in his marked flatbed tow truck, had advised dispatch that he was being threatened with a gun.Repossession

Two Huron County Sheriff’s Deputies responded with the assistance of the Elkton Police. While enroute and then on scene they learned that the home owner had become disgruntled while finding out that his pickup truck was being repossessed. His alleged actions included pointing a 9mm pistol at the driver and firing a shot into the air, as well as one in front of the tow truck.

The suspect then attempted to leave with his young child while the pickup was hooked to the tow truck. He was unsuccessful in his attempt.

The responding Deputies took the 37-year-old man into custody without further incident. He was then lodged in the Huron County Jail on charges of felonious assault, reckless weapons discharge and child endangerment. Formal charges will be forthcoming today. As of the time of this press release, his bond is set at $10,000 and he remains lodged in the Huron County Jail.
