On Sunday, March 18th, 2018, at approximately 2:45pm, the Westland Police Department investigated an accident involving a train and a pedestrian. The accident occurred along the train tracks east of Merriman and south of Michigan Avenue.

A 19 year old male Inkster resident suffered non-life threatening injuries. A portion of the passing train clipped the pedestrian as he walked dangerously close to the tracks. The pedestrian is being treated for his injuries at a local hospital.

The WLPD does not believe that alcohol or drugs played a factor in the incident, and the investigation is still ongoing.
