MARLETTE, MI – The cause of the fatal house fire that took the life of the home owner, Terry Gene Warner, is still unknown.
During the afternoon hours of Monday, March 26th, 2018, Sanilac County Sheriff’s Deputies and area Fire Departments responded to the 2000 block of W. Applegate Road in an investigation of a fatal house fire.
According to Sheriff Biniecki, the investigation into the fatal house fire in the 2000 block of W. Applegate Road continues as the Michigan State Fire Marshall is continuing to examine the cause of the fire.
The man who was located outside the residence at the time of the fire has been identified as 65-year-old Terry Warner, who lived at the residence.
An autopsy was conducted on Mr. Warner Wednesday, March 28th, 2018. The preliminary results showed evidence the victim had been exposed to smoke prior to making it outside, where he was found dead not far from the structure. A final determination of the cause of death is pending the official autopsy report.
