PONTIAC, MI – A Detroit Man who was wanted by the Michigan Department of Corrections on a warrant for being an Absconder from Parole was arrested on March 30th, 2018 after it had been reported he had unlawfully taken a vehicle.
At approximately 7:30PM Friday evening Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the lobby of the Oakland County Jail to meet with a woman who reported that her vehicle had been taken from the visitor’s parking lot. The victim stated that she drove her incarcerated boyfriend’s father’s car to the Oakland County Jail to visit her boyfriend. She was accompanied by a male friend. The woman had left the man in the vehicle with the keys in the ignition. When she returned from her visit, she discovered that the friend and the vehicle were gone. She then reported that the vehicle was taken without her consent. A BOL – be on lookout was put out and Deputies began looking for the car in the area.
Later in the shift Deputies located the female complainant and the male friend, who had allegedly taken the vehicle, riding together on the Oakland County Government Complex. Deputies initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. The man had reportedly taken the vehicle to a nearby restaurant to use the restroom.
The owner of the vehicle who lives in Redford Twp. did not wish to press charges. Deputies identified the male suspect and discovered that he had an outstanding warrant for Absconding Parole with the Michigan Department of Corrections. The suspect was taken into custody and was lodged at Oakland County Jail.
