TUSCOLA, MI – A 36-year-old man had been charged with the double murder in the Village of Otter Lake of a stepmother and her stepson that occurred on Friday March 30th, 2018, in the 9800 block of Boucher in Watertown Twp.
Adam M. Balcer, 36-years-old, was arraigned on Tuesday April 3rd, 2018 in Tuscola County District Court. He is now facing 17 charges.
Troopers responded to the residence and discovered Peter Carl Brodick, Jr., 45-year-old man dead inside of the residence from apparent gunshot wounds. Then on Easter Sunday the body of his stepmother was discovered near a silo in Millington Twp. She has been identified as 55-year-old Wendy Brodick.
It is believed that Blacer shot the Brodick’s over his impending court appears and eventual eviction from a property that he was renting from Wendy Brodick. He was $1,800 behind on his rent and Wendy was taking legal action against for that money.
Adam Blacer was charged and arraigned on two counts of open murder, one count of first-degree home invasion, one count of unlawful imprisonment, three counts of tampering with evidence, three counts of felon in possession of a firearm, one count of felon in possession of ammunition and six counts of felony firearms.
Based on records from the Michigan Department of Corrections, Adam Balcer was convicted of Attempted Theft in a Building when he accepted a plea agreement in 2013. Balcer was listed as an Absconder from Probation when the murders took place.
