EXETER TOWNSHIP, MI – Sheriff Dale Malone is reporting a fatal traffic crash that occurred on Zink Road, east of Finzel Road, in Exeter Township, at approximately 12:45 AM, on Saturday, April 14, 2018.
Preliminary investigation reveals that a 38 year old, Maybee, MI woman was operating a white in color 1999 Land Rover sport utility vehicle westbound on Zink Road. The Land Rover SUV ran off of the roadway to the left for unknown reasons. The SUV continued westbound, through a farm field and crashed into the rear of a residence on Finzel Road. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries suffered in the crash. None of the occupants of the residence were injured.
Excessive speed appears to be a factor in the crash.
The driver of the Land Rover was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
It is unknown at this time if alcohol is a factor in the crash.
The name of the victim has not yet been released.
Monroe Community Ambulance and the Exeter Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by Deputy Sheriffs Brian Francisco and Nick Burkhart of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Services Bureau along with Deputy Sheriffs Seth Evans, Josh Motylinski and Alex Preadmore of the Uniform Services Division.
