DETROIT, MI – The body of Terrance Hayes, 28-years-old, of Canton, was located today Friday April 13th, 2018, laying in a canal in Detroit’s Rouge Park after it was assumed he went missing from a traffic accident in Redford Township on Sunday February 18th.
The body was positively identified on Saturday April 14th by family members of Terrance.
The details of Terrance Hayes death have not yet been released but it is believed that this is a homicide case. Terrance was found in the canal by a DTE worker in the park.
Unconfirmed details are that Hayes had been shot and the suspect took off in the victims vehicle fleeing the murder scene in Rouge Park. The suspect, driving Hayes’ vehicle, was then in an accident that took place on I-96 at Telegraph Rd in Redford Township.
A relative did confirm that it was Terrance that was located in Rouge Park. They stated on social media after she spoke with relatives ‘My cousin was the one from the accident but we have not been given any details’
On Sunday February 18th, 2018, MSP troopers investigated a Hit and Run crash that occurred on westbound I-96 and Telegraph Road in Redford Township.
The driver that was struck advised that the suspect vehicle rear ended her, became disabled, and the driver fled the scene of the crash. The victim was unable to obtain a description of the suspect. Witnesses on scene who observed the crash occur were also unable to obtain a physical description of the fleeing driver.
Troopers attempted to locate the registered owner of the vehicle, Terrence Hayes, 28-years-old, of Canton, but were unsuccessful. On February 21, 2018, it was learned that Hayes was listed as a missing person. Troopers went back out to the crash scene and conducted a foot and canine search to ensure that Hayes had not injured himself while fleeing the crash. Troopers were not able to locate Hayes or any evidence that he was in the area.
