MONROE, MI – Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone is pleased to announce a dog license “amnesty day” for 2018. On this day, between the listed times, dog licenses will be available at the standard prices. Currently the cost is double the regular price as the renewal period has lapsed. This opportunity is being offered to encourage licensing, as it is the best way to reunite lost dogs with their owners.
This event will be at Sheri’s Dog Grooming at 675 Cooper Street (at 7th) in Monroe, MI on Wednesday April 25th. This event will be held from 9:00 AM to Noon. In order to encourage licensing, Dr. John Hermann, DVM, will be on hand in order to provide Rabies vaccines.
This amnesty event will simultaneously be held at the Monroe Animal Control Shelter, 911 S. Raisinville Road between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Dr. Hermann will NOT be at the shelter.
Remember, Michigan Law requires all dogs to be licensed if they are over 4 months of age, or you have owned them for 30 days. Rates are $7.50 for a spayed/neutered dog and &15.00 for a sexed dog. Certificates of Rabies and Spay/Neuter will need to be presented.
If you have any questions on the requirements of the law, the Shelter can be reached at 734.240-3125 Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and on Saturdays from 9:00 AM through 3:00 PM.
After April 25th, license prices will revert back to the doubled rate.
