Shooting and Home Invasion occurs in Monroe County

FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, MI – Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone is reporting a Shooting and a Home Invasion that occurred on Tuesday April 24th, 2018, in Frenchtown Township.Home Invasion

At approximately 11:05 AM, Monroe County Central Dispatch received a 911 call from a subject reporting that his vehicle was struck by several bullets in the area of Spaulding Rd, near Sandy Creek Rd. The victim reported that the unknown suspect responsible for the shooting, fled the scene in a silver Ford Explorer.

The victim of the shooting drove to the 1100 Block of Summer Grove Lane and entered through an unlocked door. The homeowner called 911 to report that someone had just broke into her home. Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies along with officers from the City of Monroe Police Department responded to the scene to investigate.

Upon further investigation it was determined that the shooting was possibly drug related and the victim was known to the suspect. The victim, a 41 year old Toledo, Ohio man, refused to cooperate with police and was eventually placed under arrest for occupied home invasion. He was lodged at the Monroe County Jail, pending formal charges.

Monroe County Sheriff deputies located the silver Ford Explorer believed to be involved in the incident, which was unoccupied and crashed in the front yard of a home on Cole Rd. The suspect who was driving the silver Ford Explorer fled the scene after crashing. Several witnesses reported that the suspect was seen running in the area, eventually getting picked up in a white Dodge Avenger. It was later determined that the silver Ford Explorer was reported stolen in Romulus, MI.
