FLINT, MI – Today, Friday April 27th, 2018, a Flint man was convicted by a Genesee County jury of first degree criminal sexual conduct and kidnapping in the sexual assault of a teenage victim in 2016.

Gary Anthony Mahan, 45-years-old, was found guilty of raping a 17-year-old girl at his home on Monday October 24th, 2016.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton praised the jury for listening closely to the testimony in reaching its verdict. “The jury recognized the DNA evidence presented at trial as being crucial to the case and rightfully convicted the defendant,” said Prosecutor Leyton.

Mahan will be sentenced as a habitual offender for his past convictions and, under Michigan’s habitual offender statutes, will face a mandatory minimum term of 25 years in prison and up to life when he is sentenced by Circuit Court Judge Celeste Bell on June 4th.
