IONIA, MI – At 1:39PM on Thursday April 26th, 2018, the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police were dispatched to a three car accident on M-66 at Riverside Dr.
A preliminary investigation revealed a 59 year old man from Caledonia was traveling eastbound on Riverside Dr. when he failed to yield to north bound M-66 traffic. A north bound Chrysler being driven by a 30 year old man from Stanton was unable to stop in time, colliding with the van. After the vehicles collided, they then separated and the Chrysler struck the front of a waiting semi on Riverside Dr.
The 30 year old Stanton man suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and was transported by Life EMS to Sparrow Ionia while the other subject sustained minor injuries. All parties were wearing seatbelts. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
The investigation is still on going.
