DETROIT, MI – 105.1 The Bounce announced Thursday morning, May 3rd, 2018, on Facebook live, that it will no longer play Kanye West’s songs. This is due to West’s comments about slavery being a ‘Choice’ on TMZ Live.
Fallout from his comments on TMZ Live have celebrities and the general public throwing a huge backlash at Kayne West about slavery being a ‘Choice’. The fallout has been swift and very damning.
One person who is standing behind Kanye West is Jamie Foxx. Foxx while at the Employees Only, a bar in West Hollywood, was not happy with TMZ for encouraging Kanye to come on their show and embarrass himself. He stated “TMZ knows they shouldn’t be doing that shit man.” “To a good friend of ours. They put that boy on display man, don’t believe that shit.”
Kim Kardashian West, Kanye’s wife, says that she will continue to defend him. Because of their celebrity status, this could possibly be the undoing for both of them.
Before noon on Thursday, there had been 291K tweets about Kanye West on Twitter placing him at the top for trending tweets in the Detroit area.
Kanye West is no stranger to controversy but could his comments about slavery be the end to his career? Some are saying and hoping that it is. His record sales will surely plummet from the scandal.
On Facebook 105.1 posted the following:
We feel like Kanye has gone too far with his latest statement declaring that “slavery was a choice.” We are over it. We don’t want to hear Kanye’s music, we don’t want to play Kanye on our show, we don’t want to talk about Kanye anymore. So we are taking a stand and we aren’t playing his music anymore; we just are refusing to give him a platform.
