DETROIT, MI – At about 4:00AM on Friday May 4th, 2018, a wrong way driver fatal accident occurred on southbound I-75 near Mack Ave. This was a head-on crash.
The free way reopened at about 9:00 AM.
The female driver of a Ford Focus was unresponsive and died at the scene of the crash The driver of the other vehicle has non-life threatening injuries.

You are advised to take an alternate route of travel for the next several hours.
MSP stated at 7:15 AM “I 75 is still closed. We are waiting on the Wayne County Medical Examiner and we will reopen the freeway. The driver of the not at fault vehicle is currently at a local hospital with non life threatening injuries. Next of Kin have NOT been notified.”
MSP requested assistance from Detroit Police because people were running down the ramp to the crash scene. If you were not a witness or involved in this accident or any other like it, you are advised to not become involved at the crash scene. You need to let police do their job uninterrupted. It is also dangerous to do so.
