MSP Trooper Arrested for Off-Duty Activity that included Child Porn

WHITE CLOUD, MI – The Michigan State Police (MSP) is confirming the arrest of Tpr. Devin Wilson of the MSP Hart Post. Wilson was arraigned today in 78th District Court in Newaygo County on four felony counts, including charges of possession of child sexually abusive material, distribution of child sexually abusive material and use of a computer in the commission of a felony.

Dwevin Wilson’s arrest follows an investigation conducted by the MSP Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force that resulted from tips received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Wilson was arrested on May 10 when he reported for duty. A search of his residence was also conducted. Upon arrest, Wilson was placed on unpaid suspension pending the outcome of the criminal case.

The MSP has a long-standing tradition of demanding the highest possible standards of professional conduct from its enforcement and civilian members. To that end, all allegations of misconduct are aggressively investigated. The process used to investigate allegations of misconduct is clearly established in department policy. Oversight of the investigation process is the responsibility of the Professional Standards Section.

Regardless of whether a criminal charge results in a conviction, employees can still be subject to administrative penalties resulting from violations of department policy. All policy violations are investigated thoroughly and acted upon in a manner consistent with current labor-relations law and bargaining unit agreements.

Wilson enlisted with the department in 2012.

Devin Wilson, 26-years-old, remains locked up in the Ottawa County Jail.
