PONTIAC, MI – On Friday May 11th, 2018, at approximately 11:45PM, Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Waterford Regional Fire Department responded to the 600 block of Lydia Lane for a subject who reportedly had been shot by his girlfriend.
The 34 year-old woman, Martia Talley, called 9-1-1 and stated that she had just shot her 36-year-old boyfriend, William Bell and that he was dead on the couch.
She advised the Sheriff’s Communications Center that the gun was still in the house and that she would be waiting outside for the Deputies to arrive. Deputies arrived on scene and did in fact take Talley into custody.
Deputies searched the house for a victim and found Willam Bell lying on the couch where he had been shot to death. Paramedics entered the residence and provided telemetry to McLaren-Oakland Hospital where a physician pronounced the victim deceased.
There were multiple spent shell casings recovered within a short distance from the body of Willam Bell and a semi-auto handgun was located lying on the couch next to him. Both the suspect and the victim lived in the home together.
The scene was secured and detectives were notified and responded to the scene to continue with the investigation. The OCSO Forensic Science Laboratory was requested and responded to process the scene.
Martia Talley was transported to the Oakland County Jail where she was lodged pending the issuance of criminal charges.
