DETROIT, MI – MSP, Michigan State Police Second District, have issued updates on two separate officer involved shooting cases and a road rage incident that recently took place.
In Dearborn Heights an officer involved shooting took place on May 13th, 2018.
Detectives from the Second District Special Investigation Section were called in to assist the Dearborn Heights Police Department with an Officer Involved shooting near Telegraph Road and Warren Avenue. Detectives have completed their interviews and located video of the shooting from commercial businesses. Still pending is the Medical Examiners report, involved police officer reports and dash cam from responding officers.
Detectives will begin to submit the report to the Wayne County Prosecutors office by the end of the week or early next week.
The second officer involved officer involved case was in Livonia.
On May 19th, 2018, Detectives from the Second District Special Investigation Section were called in to assist the Plymouth Township and Livonia Police Department with an officer involved shooting involving the Livonia Police Department that occurred near the 8900 block of Tavistock Drive. Detectives have completed their interviews and video/neighborhood canvas. Still pending is the Medical Examiners report, involved police officer reports and dash cam from responding officers. Detectives will begin to submit the report to the Wayne County Prosecutors office early next week.
The last case began on May 21, 2018, where troopers from the Metro South Post responded to a freeway shooting that occurred on I 94.
The investigation revealed that two man were involved in a road rage incident on westbound I-94 near I75. During the incident, a 33-year-old male allegedly showed a handgun. The second party involved, a 34-year-old male fired several times at the other party striking him 12 times in the lower body. The injured driver drove himself to the emergency room of the Henry Ford Hospital. The shooter turned himself in.
All vehicles involved and firearms have been located and processed. Both parties involved have concealed pistol licenses. No one else was injured in this incident.
Troopers will be submitting their report to the Wayne County prosecutor. There are no updates available on the injured subject and the other subject has been released pending prosecutor review.
