REMUS, MI – A man was struck and killed late Saturday night by a vehicle while he was in the roadway removing a dead deer because of a previous accident that he was part of.
On Saturday June 2nd, 2018, at approximately 11:00PM, Mecosta County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a car vs pedestrian personal injury accident on 30th Ave north of Grant Rd.
The investigation revealed that a 79-year-old woman from Vestaburg struck a deer at which time she stopped and her passenger, Norman Erickson, 85-years-old, from Barryton, got out to remove the deer from the roadway. While Mr. Erickson was attempting to remove the deer from the roadway, a southbound vehicle driven by a 22-year-old woman, from Marion, struck and killed Norman Erickson.
The accident is still under investigation.
