HOLT, MI – Joseph Hattey, 51-years-old, of Holt, has been charged with two counts of committing a crime against nature (bestiality), a 15-year felony for allegedly penetrating a dog with both his hand and penis.
Hattey, an employee of Michigan State University, is not alleged to have conducted the acts on campus or with an animal owned by the university.
Charges were authorized by Magistrate Mark Blumer of the 55th District Court. Hattey was arraigned in front of Magistrate Blumer of the 55th District Court in Mason on a Felony charge of Sodomy. He was given a $5,000.00 personal recognizance bond. Hattey’s next court appearance will be in front of Judge Boyd on June 14th, 2018 at 8:30 a.m.
The investigation was conducted by Ingham County Animal Control in conjunction with the Ingham County Sheriff’s Department.
The dog has been removed from harm and is currently in the custody of Ingham County Animal Control.
