DAVISON, MI – A Davison man has been charged with murder after running over his girlfriend with a car and killing her.
At approximately 4:14 AM on Saturday June 2nd, 2018, Davison Township police received a call about a body lying on the side of the road at 9070 Davison Rd. Upon arrival, they found an unconscious woman later identified as Tyesha Kemp, 26-years-old, of Davison.
The police investigation indicated that Kemp had been struck by a vehicle. Kemp was still alive when police arrived and efforts were made to save her life but, she was later pronounced dead.
“Police were able to determine that the car hit her. She flipped up in the air, hit the windshield, rolled around and then hit the back window breaking that before she went to the ground,” Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said.
Kemp’s boyfriend, 28-year-old Brandon Scott Merrow, of Davison, was quickly identified as a suspect in her death and was arrested. After a review of the case with police detectives, Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton charged Merrow with four counts:
o 1st Degree premeditated murder, punishable upon conviction by life without parole
o Failure to stop at scene of an accident when at fault resulting in death, a 15-year felony
o Witness intimidation, a 10-year felony
o Tampering with evidence, a 10-year felony
Merrow will be arraigned in 67th District Court.
