SWARTZ CREEK, MI – Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton today charged a Swartz Creek man with shooting and killing his 91-year-old stepfather over the weekend.
William Franklin Moore, 61-years-old, is charged with open murder, carrying a concealed weapon, fleeing police third degree, two counts of resisting and obstructing police causing injury, possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, and five counts of felony firearm after shooting and killing his stepfather, Richard Adams, 91-years-old, at Adams’ Miller Road home in the City of Swartz Creek on Saturday, June 9th, 2018.
According to police reports from the Metro Police Authority, Moore went to Adams’ home and shot and killed him. Moore’s mother had spotted her son’s vehicle at her residence and, given his known potential for violence, she called police. Upon arrival, the police found Richard Adams with gunshot wounds and he was later pronounced dead.
Prior to the police response, Moore left the house and drove across the street to the Krogers store parking lot. After a brief chase and struggle, Moore was apprehended and taken to the Genesee County Jail where he remains incarcerated.
Moore was will be arraigned tomorrow in 67th District Court.
