16 yr old Bicyclist Killed in Hillsdale County Crash

SCIPIO TOWNSHIP, MI – A 16-year-old boy,  Braxton Petrie, was struck on his bicycle by a suspected drunk driver Monday evening. Braxton died from the injuries that he sustained in the accident.Braxton Petrie

Michigan State Police are investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred on June 19th, 2018, at approximately 10:00PM on Mosherville Rd near Borden Rd in Scipio Township.

Witnesses reported that a vehicle traveling west on Mosherville Rd driven by a 20-year-old resident of Jonesville collided with a bicycle being ridden by a 16-year-old resident of Jonesville.

The 16 year old, Braxton Petrie, was transported to Hillsdale Hospital and later passed away from injuries sustained from the accident.

Troopers are continuing to investigate the incident where alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by Litchfield Fire Department along with Reading Emergency Medical personnel.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the MSP at (517) 780-4580.
