BERLIN TOWNSHIP, MI – On Thursday, June 28th 2018 at approximately 2:30 P.M. Deputies from the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two vehicle personal injury traffic crash at the intersection of S State Rd and Grand River Ave in Berlin Twp.
The investigation reviled that silver SUV driven by a 72 year old woman from Jenison and her 73 year old female passenger from Zeeland were traveling west on Grand River Ave when the driver disregarded a stop sign at the intersection of Grand River Ave and S State Rd. A south bound white minivan driven by a 76 year old female from Lake Odessa was unable to avoid the SUV striking it on the passenger side.
The passenger of the SUV had to be freed from the vehicle using the jaw of life and was transported to Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for non-life threatening injuries.
All other subjects involved were threated on scene for minor injuries. All subjects were using their seatbelts and neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be factors in this crash.
Assisting the Ionia County Sheriff’s Officer were: Ionia County Central Dispatch, Berlin Orange Fire Department, Michigan State Police, Life Ambulance, Reed and Hoppes towing, and several citizens.
