DETROIT, MI – In a continual battery on almost a daily basis of violence and death in the city of Detroit we learn of three more people who have lost their lives.
Chief James Craig has stood before the media and the citizens to declare that violent crime including the murder rate had dropped in dramatic fashion. What would he have to say to the victim’s families of those who were murdered in a 48 hour period starting on July 1st?
In the 4000 block of Mitchell on Sunday July 1st, 2018, at approximately 4:00AM, a 41-year-old man was discovered fatally assaulted at the location. The circumstances pertaining to this incident are unknown at this time.
Suspect information is also unknown at this time.
On the same day, only 7 hours later in the 1900 block of McLean, at approximately 11:39AM, a 27-year-old man was fatally shot by a suspect through the front door of his home. The details pertaining to this incident are unknown at this time.
Detroit Police are looking for a Black male, 25-years-old, 5’8”, medium complexion, thin build, last seen leaving in a gray 4dr midsize vehicle. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.
And then on Monday July 2nd, 2018, in the 5500 block of Lodewyck, at approximately 6:15PM, a taxi driver shot and killed a man.
The victim’s girlfriend stated that she used a taxi service to go to the 5500 block of Lodewyck. After exiting the taxi, the woman’s boyfriend exited the residence and began arguing with her. The taxi driver then fired one gunshot fatally wounding the 34-year-old man.
The 38-year-old taxi driver was arrested.
