Ottawa County Motorcycle Accident Claims Life of Grand Rapids Man

NUNICA, MI – On Saturday July 7th 2018, just shortly before 4:00PM, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a car versus motorcycle personal injury accident at the intersection of Cleveland St and M-231 in Crockery Township of Ottawa County.fatal-crash

The investigation at the scene indicates that Aaron Ruiz, 33-years-old, of Holland, who was driving a 2007 Honda CRV was west westbound on Cleveland St attempting to turn southbound on M-231.

Beau McDonald, 36-years-old, of Grand Rapids, was east bound on Cleveland St, driving a 2006 Honda Motorcycle. Both vehicles had a yellow light at the time of the crash. Aaron Ruiz entered the intersection to turn southbound on M-231 when the rear portion of his vehicle was struck by the East Bound motorcycle.

Beau McDonald was thrown from his motorcycle as result of the accident. McDonald was treated at the scene by  witnesses and first responders before he died as a result of his injuries. 

A back seat passenger in the Ruiz vehicle, Daniel Ruiz, 25-years-old, of Holland, was transported to Hackley Hospital in good condition.

This incident remains under investigation by the sheriff’s Office.
