On Thursday, July 12th, 2018, at approximately 3:30 PM, Monroe County Central Dispatch received a 911 call from employees of Erie Technologies located at 6872 Memorial Highway in Ottawa Lake regarding an unconscious employee.
Erie Technologies provides cryogenic equipment and systems to suit various applications.
Sheriff Deputies arrived on scene and located a 29-year-old man from Ottawa Lake, unresponsive inside an industrial work area at the location. Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) was administered along with other life saving measures; however the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim had no signs of visible trauma and the cause of death is still under investigation.
The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification to the family.
The victim was transported to the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death.
Ottawa Lake Fire Department and Monroe Community Ambulance assisted at the scene.
MIOSHA (Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration) is also assisting with the investigation.
