CHESHIRE TOWNSHIP, MI – Sadly it is that time of year that we must report on those who have lost their life by accidental drowning.
On Monday July 16th, 2018, near 6:21PM, Allegan County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to Eagle Lake off 102nd Ave in Cheshire Township for a man who was drowning.
Just prior to arrival, family members had found the 32 year old man and pulled him to shore. Allegan Life EMS and several deputies from Allegan County Sheriff’s Office performed CPR until a pulse was found. The victim was transported to a Kalamazoo area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Witnesses indicated that the victim was with family in Eagle Lake next to a dock. It appeared the victim went too far out in the lake and could not touch and did not know how to swim. Family members lost sight of him but were able to locate and bring him to shore.
The victim has part time residence in the Bloomingdale area and no foul play is suspected. His name is not being released pending contact with family.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Allegan Life EMS and Michigan State Police.
