NEW BOSTON, MI – On Tuesday July 17th, 2018, in the early morning hours, the Huron Township Dispatch Operations Center received a 911 call regarding a shooting that had just occurred in the 27500 block of Huron River Drive.
Huron Township Police and fire personnel arrived on the scene within six (6) minutes where they located a 41-year-old man who was the victim of a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he underwent surgery overnight. This morning, the victim is alert, cooperative, and expected to survive.
The initial investigation indicates that the victim and a passenger were traveling eastbound on Huron River Drive when an unknown person fired multiple shots at and into their vehicle. After being shot, the victim and the passenger stopped the vehicle. The passenger ran to a nearby residence and called 911 for assistance.
The investigation is ongoing. At this time, we have no suspect information to release.
