PONTIAC, MI – The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office has released further details on the toddler that was accidentally run over by a neighbors vehicle this morning.
The Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting Deputies out of the Pontiac Substation in the investigation of a serious injury traffic accident involving a Pedestrian. The traffic accident occurred in the 100 block of Warwick Drive at approximately 08:45 a.m. this morning.
A 40 year old was attending to a flat tire on her vehicle that was parked in her driveway while her 20 month old toddler was outside with her. Both are residents of the city of Pontiac. The toddler wandered two houses down to where she was on or near the sidewalk behind a black Chevrolet Equinox that was backing out of the driveway of that residence.
A 47 year old resident of Pontiac was backing the Chevrolet out of her driveway and struck the toddler with the vehicle. The Chevrolet was also occupied by four other residents of Pontiac, ages 18, 9, 6, and 5.
The toddler was transported to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak via Star EMS where she remains in critical condition.
None of the occupants in the Chevrolet were injured. Seatbelt use is unknown at this time.
The crash remains under investigation.
