FLINT, MI – On Thursday July 12th, 2018, a fisherman found the bodies of two men under a door that was floating in the Flint River. He accidentally discovered the bodies when he went to move the door so it would not get tangled up in his fishing line.
Flint police officers and EMS responded to the scene at approximately 5:00PM. The bodies were located near Riverside Drive and Lyman Street near the river’s bank. One of the victims has been identified as 19-year-old Ted-Mundo Meeks. Meeks was friends with the other person who was found with him floating in the river.
Few details have been released as to the investigation that brought charges against 24-year-old Robert Lee Wheeler Jr. of Flint in the deaths of Ted-Mundo Meeks and his friend. Robert Wheeler has been charged with two counts of premeditated first-degree murder and one count each of tampering with evidence and felony firearm.
Robert Wheeler Jr. appeared in court on Monday. He was remanded to jail without bond and said he would hire an attorney. He is scheduled to be back in Genesee County District Court next week for a probable cause conference.
