DETROIT, MI – On July 19th, 2018, at approximately 12 p.m., officers arrested a suspect involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred on the city westside.
On July 16, 2018, at approximately 10:15 p.m., 20-year-old male victim was crossing 7 Mile when the driver of a white Kia Sorento struck the victim. The driver was traveling eastbound at the time of the incident, and failed to stop. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators immediately launched an investigation. Through great investigative work, and the use of Project Greenlight footage from a nearby gas station, officers were able to identify and locate the suspect and make an arrest.
The suspect, identified as Adonis Jackson, 18-years-old, was arrested in the 19000 block of Avon Avenue.
A warrant package was submitted to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office for review and approval. The suspect was charged with Failing to Stop at the Scene of Accident Resulting in a Serious Impairment or Death and arraigned by video on July 21, 2018.
