Bad Axe Paraglider Killed when Aircraft Crashes in Huron County

COLFAX TOWNSHIP, MI – A 44-year-old Bad Axe Man was killed when his paraglider aircraft crashed into trees in Huron County.

This morning the Huron County Sheriff’s Office, Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board continue an investigation into the cause of an aircraft crash that resulted in the death of a Bad Axe man.

On Monday, July 23rd, 2018, at 4:43 p.m., Huron County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were called to the scene of a reported paraglider crash on Bad Axe Road near McKenzie Road in Colfax Township. When Deputies arrived they found an Aeros Venture aircraft had crashed into trees along the roadway. The cockpit of the aircraft was stuck in trees approximately 25 feet off of the ground. The pilot of the aircraft was identified as 44-year-old Trever Engler of Bad Axe. Engler was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Huron County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Bad Axe Area Fire Department, Central Huron Ambulance, and the Huron County Medical Examiner’s Office.
