Arrests made in Huron Township for July Shooting

NEW BOSTON, MI – On Tuesday July 17th, 2018, in the early morning hours, the Huron Township Dispatch Operations Center received a 911 call regarding a shooting that had just occurred in the 27500 block of Huron River Drive. shooting-investigation.arrest

Huron Township Police and fire personnel arrived on the scene within six (6) minutes where they located a 41-year-old man who was the victim of a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he underwent surgery and did survive.

The initial investigation indicated that the victim and a passenger were traveling eastbound on Huron River Drive when an unknown person fired multiple shots at and into their vehicle. After being shot, the victim and the passenger stopped the vehicle. The passenger ran to a nearby residence and called 911 for assistance.

On August 9th, 2018, The Huron Township Police Department Detective Bureau arrested a 37-year-old male and a 40-year-female for the shooting that occurred on Huron River Drive on July 17, 2017. The shooting was not random.

Both suspects were arrested by Huron Township Police Department Detectives in Louisville, Kentucky. Both suspects have been charged by the Wayne County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office with a 14-count felony warrant, the following charges:

Count #1: Assault with intent to murder; Felony; life or any number of years.

Count #2: Assault with intent to murder; Felony; life or any number of years.

Count #3: Assault to do great bodily harm less than murder; 10-year-felony

Count #4: Assault to do great bodily harm less than murder; 10-year-felony

Count #5: Assault with a dangerous weapon (Felonious assault)

Count #6: Assault with a dangerous weapon (Felonious assault)

Count #7: Weapons – Firearms – Possession by a felon; 5-year-felony

Count #8: Weapons – Felony Firearm; 2-year-felony

Count #9: Weapons – Felony Firearm; 2-year-felony

Count #10: Weapons – Felony Firearm; 2-year-felony

Count #11: Weapons – Felony Firearm; 2-year-felony

Count #12: Weapons – Felony Firearm; 2-year-felony

Count #13: Weapons – Felony Firearm; 2-year-felony

Count #14: Weapons – Felony Firearm; 2-year-felony

Both suspects are being held in Kentucky awaiting the extradition process. Suspect identities will be released following court proceedings in Kentucky.

During the early morning hours of August 10 th , 2018, The Huron Township Police Department  executed a search warrant in Ecorse with the assistance of the Downriver SWAT Team and the Ecorse Police Department. The investigation in ongoing.
