Clinton Township Police Investigating Fatal Harper Ave Crash

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI – The Clinton Township Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a black 2015 Chevrolet Malibu and a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle. The crash occurred around 9:55 pm on Saturday August 11th, 2018.Carl Evans

A preliminary investigation indicates the Harley Davidson was southbound on Harper in the left through lane when the Chevy Malibu attempted to make a left turn from northbound Harper to westbound 15 mile when the vehicles collided.

The operator of the Harley Davidson was thrown from his motorcycle. The driver of the Malibu came to an immediate stop and remained on scene until emergency services arrived. The operator of the Harley Davidson was taken to McLaren Hospital where he later died from his injuries sustained in the crash. The operator of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet.

Alcohol and/or drugs may have been a factor in the crash and the driver of the Chevy Malibu was taken into custody with charges pending. The operator of the Harley Davidson was positively identified by family as 46-year-old Carl Evans, from Clinton Township.

Harper and 15 mile is a 5 lane intersection controlled by traffic lights. The speed limit for both roads is posted at 45 mph.
