LAPEER, MI – The Lapeer County Sheriff has issued a warning to parents about strangers trying to communicate and connect with minor children through online games.cell phone

Recently, there have been multiple reports regarding online games and strangers attempting to set up meetings with minor children. They are urging parent to please be aware of all outlets of communication with any online games and monitor social media and cell phones that their children are using.

Unfortunately, predators will use every avenue possible to reach minor children and use a bait tactic to build trust and communicate with children of all ages (some pretend to be teenagers, others do not hide their ages).

The Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office encourages parents to be sure and not to assume their children are safe while using any form of online communication. They are urging that parents make sure that their children are aware of the dangers associated with online gaming, chatting and social media (including all cell phone apps).
